#MicroblogMondays 157: Time or Food
Not sure what #MicroblogMondays is? Read the inaugural post which explains the idea and how you can participate too.
*******
You come across a magical wish-granting being who offers two possible situations. You can either have one, super-charged night per week, where you don’t have to sleep and you won’t get tired. Meaning, you could wake up Wednesday morning, stay up all Wednesday night while everyone else sleeps (feeling completely energized), segue into Thursday morning as if you slept the night, and not get tired until Thursday evening as normal. You’d gain 8 extra hours in your week to do whatever you choose.
Or
You can have an 8-hour period once a week where you can eat anything you want with no bodily impact. The calories are null and void. No fat or sodium affecting your overall health. You get 8 hours to eat whatever you choose.
Which would you take?
I’d go with the time option.

Are you also doing #MicroblogMondays? Add your link below. The list will be open until Tuesday morning. Link to the post itself, not your blog URL. (Don’t know what that means? Please read the three rules on this post to understand the difference between a permalink to a post and a blog’s main URL.) Only personal blogs can be added to the list. I will remove any posts that are connected to businesses or are sponsored post.

Time Option for me too. I feel 24 or rather 18 hours are too less to finish all that I need to do in a day.
The food option definitely appeals far more to me. Not sleeping sounds unappealing as I love sleep. I guess I value pleasure over productivity 🙂
I’d go with the time option. I’m sick of never having the ‘time’ (read: spirit, willingness, motivation) to do anything because full-time work leaches my soul and consumes my waking hours. I’d take time over food. I love good food but I reckon the time option is more productive…
Time for me too! Time to do what I want, quickly or slowly, not having to think about getting it done in a certain period of time (obviously it has to be in the extra time but I’m sure you know what I mean) ~ Cathy
Time, time time. 🙂
Those both sound like good options, although I’m not sure I’d want to eat for 8 hours – 1 or 2 would be fine! So maybe I should pick time-?
Energized? Time.
Those are both such interesting options. I would take the first one 🙂 Who doesn’t like more time? 😉
FOOD!
I just started the Keto diet and I can’t have bread, or donuts or ice cream.
Well, I think at this point in my life, I’m satisfied enough with what I get accomplished in a day… so I have no interest in the first one… and I have 1 “eating” day a week where I do the second one, not worrying about the consequence because it’s only 1 day a week… still, I’d definitely go with the 2nd one.
Time! Definitely time!
Two so very compelling offers! Difficult to choose from!
But an ounce more goes to Getting extra hours! Being a mom to two kids aged 2 and 4 along with a creative bug inside the brain, 24 hours seem to be too less! How I wish….

Food if it included I could eat what I am allergic to. That means I could eat anything with tomatoes or seafood or nuts.
If not I’d take the time.
Time, for sure. After all, without extra time how would I have time to squeeze in eating all that delicious food? I mean, I know I don’t get both, but even so, I feel like I’m dashing too much to be able to chill & enjoy the meals. Also, not clear to me who’s responsible for food prep & cleanup, and no interest in that.
Haha, time. Especially now that the school year is starting again. Not counting pregnancy weirdness, I already have the food one. Although if I could design my own magic food option, it would be that I could eat ENOUGH nutritious food in a day. That, I might consider, because it’s a challenge for me.
Hilarious! I’d go with the time option. Hands down. Because I love to eat, but imagine what I could accomplish in that amount of time…
As tempting as the food option is, I’d have to go with the time one also. Especially since I used to make a habit of pulling all-nighters when I was younger, just to have some quiet time to myself – it would be nice if it didn’t result in total exhaustion! 🙂
Time! 🙂
Time! Because that 8 hours of non-stop eating sounds amazing, but then I’d have even LESS time in my week (for non-eating activities). If the energy were guaranteed I would absolutely take it—I can’t guarantee high energy even when I’m wasting 8 hours on sleep.
I’ll sign up for 8 extra hours, please! 😀
Tough choice, but I think I would go with the time option. The word ” energised” did it for me. I could dance all night and stiil go to work the next day!
Oh wow, the time option, without question. I was actually surprised to read in the comments that some people would pick the eating option because to me it was such a no-brainer. I would LOVE a full night to read books for fun, or do some writing, or watch a movie (or two, or three)- all the things that get squeezed out of the day-to-day right now. And, as someone who has struggled with disordered eating in the past, the idea of a “free binge” day strikes me as likely to lead to a lot of other problems.
Food option. I guess that makes me weird!
Oh, man. I’m going to go Time, although I was tempted by Food (but it would have to have a negating effect on my previous indulgences that have me a bit fluffier than I used to be). I can always eat food and exercise or eat healthier on other days to make up for it, but I can’t magically make an extra 8 hours appear in my life, EVERY WEEK! That sounds like heaven. I would get SO MUCH DONE. And to not be tired? I love this wish-granting genie thing!
Given that I’m not working full-time, and that I spend my life battling with food, I’d definitely choose the food option. I can’t imagine eating some foods without feeling guilty. That would be bliss.
And oops – I posted on Monday/Tuesday, but forgot to link my posts. I didn’t have time. Oh dear, I made the wrong choice!
I’m thinking I’d probably go for the time option! Though the food one is definitely tempting
