Circle Time: The Show and Tell Weekly Thread

Show and Tell is wasted on elementary schoolers. Join several dozen bloggers weekly to show off an item, tell a story, and get the attention of the class. In other words, this is Show and Tell 2.0. Everyone is welcome to join, even if you have never posted before and just found out about Show and Tell for the first time today. So yank out a photo of the worst bridesmaid’s dress you ever wore and tell us the story; show off the homemade soup you cooked last night; or tell us all about the scarf you made for your first knitting project. Details on how to participate are located at the bottom of this post.

Let’s begin.

I was online looking at handpainted dolls on Production, Not Reproduction’s review blog and while I thought they were really cute, I knew I could make something similar enough. I did purchase some of the wood turnings at the store that look like people but I also picked up a bag of clothespins (um…48 of them for about a dollar) because I love the history of clothespin dolls. I told the ChickieNob I would make her anything she wants and she has started with a wedding party. These are two of the bridesmaids, chatting with each other (and looking a little concerned, I might add) right before the ceremony. Do they think the bride will be left at the altar?

Stay tuned for a clothespin doll version of my fertility clinic complete with tiny wooden stirrups and a doctor with cold hands.

What are you showing today?

Click here or scroll down to the bottom of this post if this is your first time joining along (actually, everyone should read it this week because I changed it around a bit). The list is open from now until late Tuesday night and a new one is posted every week.

Want to bring something to Show and Tell?

  • If you would like to join circle time and show something to the class, simply post each Saturday night (or earlier in the week or on Monday if you can’t do the weekend), hopefully including a picture if possible, and telling us about your item. It can be anything–a photo from a trip, a picture of the dress you bought this week, a random image from an old yearbook showing a person you miss. It doesn’t need to contain a picture if you can’t get a picture–you can simply tell a story about a single item. The list opens every Saturday night and closes on Tuesday night.
  • You must mention Show and Tell and include a link back to this post in your post so people can find the rest of the class. This spreads new readership around through the list. This is now required.
  • Label your post “Show and Tell” each week and then come back here and add the permalink for the post via the Mr. Linky feature (not your blog’s main url–use the permalink for your specific Show and Tell post).
  • Oh, and then the point is that you click through all of your classmates and see what they are showing this week. And everyone loves a good “ooooh” and “aaaah” and to be queen (or king) of the playground for five minutes so leave them a comment if you can.
  • Did you post a link and now it’s missing?: I reserve the right to delete any links that are not leading to a Show and Tell post or are the blogging equivalent of a spitball.

Hmmm…bridesmaids in fuschia. Don't forget the matching hats and parasols.

I've just added my S & T for this week.

2 Jamie { 11.01.08 at 6:11 pm }

My post is scheduled for midnight. I’m trying to blog every day this month. 🙂

3 angrycanrn { 11.01.08 at 6:33 pm }

I think I did it right…. except I put my name, not my blog’s name in the box. Oh well.

Caution kid pics on mine.

4 Lauren { 11.01.08 at 7:50 pm }

Mine’s up!

Kids are mentioned.

5 battynurse { 11.01.08 at 7:56 pm }

I love the clothespin dolls. Especially the idea of the mini fertility clinic.

6 Delenn { 11.01.08 at 8:02 pm }

Clothespin dolls bring me back. Very cool. I need to do that for Willow!

7 bleu { 11.01.08 at 8:56 pm }

Mine is up by way of many other bloggers.

8 Lori { 11.01.08 at 9:30 pm }

These are precious! I must have grown up under a rock because I’d never heard of clothespin dolls.

Can’t wait for the RE scene. Make sure the doc has no splinters.

9 Kathleen { 11.01.08 at 9:46 pm }

Mine is up, first time doing! :o)

10 Kristin { 11.01.08 at 10:34 pm }

I love those. I have clothespin soldiers/nutcrackers on my Christmas tree every year.

11 Another Dreamer { 11.01.08 at 11:12 pm }

Those are cute 🙂

12 Malky B. { 11.01.08 at 11:19 pm }

Very cute – I like the serious faces. Maybe they should be the mother-in-laws both thinking what’s my kid getting themselves into, lol.

13 Vee { 11.01.08 at 11:48 pm }

They are gorgeous Mel! you clever chickie.

14 Brenda { 11.02.08 at 12:25 am }

I am so not crafty. I don’t even possess the materials to be crafty. I do love the clothes pin dolls. Ironically, I was in a wedding about 12 years ago wearing a fuchsia dress, my hair up in a bun….I also weighed 115lbs (at 5’7″), so my figure looked about the same. Ahh, youth. I’m much more curvy now……

15 Rachel { 11.02.08 at 2:12 am }

Wow, they really look professional… ! If you actually do make a mini-fertility clinic, that would be SO freakin’ funny. I can’t wait to see it!

16 chicklet { 11.02.08 at 2:18 am }

These are very very cute.

17 Cara { 11.02.08 at 5:57 am }

Very Nice Mel!!!

Giving the girl whatever she wants is a lovely gesture!

Ok – I’m reeling trying to keep up with all your new gagets – but I added my link (I think)

18 Sam { 11.02.08 at 6:00 am }

Am loving those clothes peg dolls!!! Can’t wait to see the rest of the party!

19 Sam { 11.02.08 at 6:02 am }

by the way, it is me?! Your click here bit (for the new details for S and T) has got a funny link – http://www.blogger.com/post-create.g?blogID=30259745#1 – it doesn’t take me to the right place!!

20 Emily (Apron Strings) { 11.02.08 at 6:23 am }

Oh my goodness! SO cute … and I so remember making those in … Brownies? (I think.)

Anyway, I’ll be curious to see how you make the clothspin doll get into those stirrups …

21 Cara { 11.02.08 at 6:49 am }

Hey – me again. This is the first time I’ve submitted my parenting blog for show and tell – but I clearly marked it!

22 WiseGuy { 11.02.08 at 7:54 am }

Gorgeous…looking forward to the fertility clinic doll pics…umm, cold hands of the doc? How about numb expression for the patient?

23 Phoebe { 11.02.08 at 10:01 am }

So simple, yet detailed! I really want to see the whole wedding party. Are you seriously going to do the fertility clinic ones? Can’t wait to see those.

I’m posting pictures of my scariest Halloween costume yet:

Palin vs. Phoebe

24 Andrea { 11.02.08 at 11:34 am }

I love the bridesmaids' flowers! You have a talent for attending to even the tiniest detail! I can't wait to see the fertility clinic!

I just put mine S&T up 🙂

25 Martha { 11.02.08 at 4:25 pm }

Those are really cute, I love wedding dolls! My Show and Tell is about Dolls too.
Best to you and the family. Chickie Nob is so lucky mommy is creative.

26 Phoebe { 11.02.08 at 8:36 pm }

Whoops! I thought I was editing my link, but looks like I just added another one! I’m not vain, really! Usually I add the direct link, but I guess I messed up this week. Sorry! (you can delete the extra one)

27 Tara { 11.02.08 at 8:50 pm }

Those are so cute!! You are so crafty!!!

28 WiseGuy { 11.03.08 at 7:50 am }

Ha Ha Ha no need for embarrassment at all, the book is in Hindi.

Originally the book was written in Marathi of which there are translations available in several languages including English.

29 babydust81 { 11.03.08 at 9:42 am }

This is a cool site that you have created… Nice way of sharing things and increasing readership and making friends.

Love it!!!

30 Vintage Mommy { 11.03.08 at 2:13 pm }
