ALI Lunch
At lunch time, a bunch of ALI bloggers got together in the lobby so both BlogHer people and Chicago people could see each other. We had Cecily, Julia, Emily, Aurelia, Kate, Kathy, Briar, Magpie, Alexa, and Me. Later on, Jenny, Amalah, and Gwen stopped by. It was so much fun and I loved getting to spend time with everyone. This is why I go to BlogHer—to get to see the people I read.
The Bloggess is also one of the people here with Nora’s head so…here, Nora, your head was at lunch too. And you thought the mozzarella salad was delicious.
Oh, and I also met Rick Bayless who gave me an excellent tip on mellowing the taste of garlic (put peeled garlic clove in a small dish of water and microwave it for 45 seconds to blanch it before using). And I had my picture taken with Mrs. Potato Head because she’s Mrs. Potato Head.

Love all the pictures, smiles and hugs! Glad you're having such a great time!
*HUGS*
Hmm…I feel stupid asking this, but what is an ALI blogger? Also, so nice to see Nora's face everywhere! She couldn't make it for the same reason I couldn't so I hope that we can both go next year.
It looks like you are having a wonderful time. I am a little jealous.
Thanks for sharing!
Love the pictures!!! You are awesome!!!!
It looks like the kinda fun that many of us have not had since college…that sense of community and the easy togetherness. V nice.
It was sooooo great to meet you and other ALI bloggers today at lunch! 🙂 Thanks for sharing all these fun pictures! Looking forward to reading more about your BlogHer experiences this weekend! Hope your keynote and book signing went well.

Oh how fun. Its getting me so excited for next year (how dare te next BlogHer be more than a year away) because it looks more and more like I can go next year.
Oh Mel. It's so wonderful seeing all your photos, really feels like I'm there. Keep 'em coming!
(Next year … I WILL be there. Lifelong dream, to go to NY.)
I would like to point out … that even though you say how short you are, you had to stoop standing next to Mrs Potato Head. So she's totally shorter than you.
Ah! We just got rid of cable so I've been watching a lot of Rick Bayless on PBS and am falling in love with his show… I would have loved to have met him!
I am totally in for next year after seeing how much fun y'all are having!
I am so going next year!!
Absolutely love the pic of you with Mrs. Potato Head. I'm thinking billboards, I'm thinking new head shot, I'm thinking Mel & Mrs. Potato Head: the Movie.
You must feel like you went to Blogger Heaven. : ) Thanks for sharing all the photos. Mrs. Potato Head especially.
You can really see hte fun in these pictures! Thanks for sharing
Awesome pictures! Looks like a great time.
Someone should have told me there was a cannoli in my lap.
RICK BAYLESS?!
Aw, DAMN it.
Aw – these pictures are fun. Thanks!
Thanks for the laugh with the last part about hairy legs. Those fairies were pretty funny too.
All of you pictures make it look like so much fun. Part of me would love to go just so I could meet many of the other people I converse with on a daily basis. I have to say also though that part of me looks at all conference like things and all I can think about is the religious conventions I used to have to go to that lasted anywhere from 2-5 days and were all day long. I'm glad you've had a good time though.
