The 68th Circle Time: The Show and Tell Weekly Thread
Show and Tell is wasted on elementary schoolers. Join several dozen bloggers weekly to show off an item, tell a story, and get the attention of the class. In other words, this is Show and Tell 2.0. Everyone is welcome to join, even if you have never posted before and just found out about Show and Tell for the first time today. So yank out a photo of the worst bridesmaid’s dress you ever wore and tell us the story; show off the homemade soup you cooked last night; or tell us all about the scarf you made for your first knitting project. Details on how to participate are located at the bottom of this post.
Let’s begin.
I recently unpacked the Barbies from my childhood so we could use them. I not only have Barbie, Ken, and Skipper, but I also have the lesser known Scott, who was a roller skating friend who loved to wear muscle shirts.
This was one of my favourite outfits: one-piece leopard print clamdiggers:
This was an outfit Barbie wore when she had a date with my Andy Gibb doll:
Some of my favourite shirts and jackets for Ken:

Links not going to a Show and Tell post will be deleted). The list is open from now until late Friday night and a new one is posted every week.

- If you would like to join circle time and show something to the class, simply post each Wednesday night (or any time between Wednesday morning and Friday night), hopefully including a picture if possible, and telling us about your item. It can be anything–a photo from a trip, a picture of the dress you bought this week, a random image from an old yearbook showing a person you miss. It doesn’t need to contain a picture if you can’t get a picture–you can simply tell a story about a single item. The list opens every Wednesday night and closes on Friday night.
- You must mention Show and Tell and include a link back to this post in your post so people can find the rest of the class. This spreads new readership around through the list. This is now required.
- Label your post “Show and Tell” each week and then come back here and add the permalink for the post via the Mr. Linky feature (not your blog’s main url–use the permalink for your specific Show and Tell post).
- Oh, and then the point is that you click through all of your classmates and see what they are showing this week. And everyone loves a good “ooooh” and “aaaah” and to be queen (or king) of the playground for five minutes so leave them a comment if you can.
- Did you post a link and now it’s missing?: I reserve the right to delete any links that are not leading to a Show and Tell post or are the blogging equivalent of a spitball.
- If you want it…
I’ve now placed a Show and Tell archive on the sidebar that will be updated each week in case you miss it. And click here for the icon code if you wish to have it for your blog. It links to the archives.

Ahhh a wonderful blast from the past! I honestly wasn't big into Barbies (although my sister still collects them… she has more than 20 of the holiday Barbies, and gets a new one every year), I was more into Cabbage Patch dolls.
Very groovy clothing!
The Chickienob is going to LOVE them!!! (And, they's be worth a bit on eBay).
I hope you are ok. I want you to know that I was directing some love and peaceful thoughts to you this morning at 2am, which would have been Wednesday lunchtime for you. XOXOX
That is cute! I never did have a barbie- but I did have Meiko- her hawaiian cousin or somethig. I looooved her long black hair. 🙂
I had only one Barbie and it was a Peaches and Cream Barbie…but between me and my bro, we collected several figures from the Adventures of He-Man: Master of the Universe
including the big guy himself, Teela, and the main villain.
And oh, I love your collection!
Ken's floral jacket is really groovy!
I loved playing with Barbies. Yours are fabulous. We used to create really elaborate "houses" using encyclopedias laid on their sides. Ahhh, Barbies.
Oh Yeah – rockin out the barbie collection! I found mine a few months ago and the kids have been lovin them.
Um..your andy gibb doll? I want one!
Okay, "scott's" hair is out of control! I love the post, only wish you had shown the Andy Gibb doll too.
Scott reminds me of Carrot Top…
Andy Gibb doll?
Now THERE's some childhood trivia.
Barbies! Yes!
LOL – Oh I loved my Barbies. I spent hours in the basement "living" their lives. It was the Sims before computers! Thanks for the walk down memory lane. 🙂
(Is it bad if I admit that I don't know who Andy Gibb is?)
OMG, those Barbie clothes are a trip. Your Barbies had much cooler clothes than mine ever did.
I only had one Barbie – my dad was opposed to them. But, I had some really cool clothes for her, including a bathrobe with green and orange giraffe-like spots, and a fuzzy electric blue coat (which I would now label a hooker coat). What fun!
Much luck today…
How cool. I wish I had kept some of my barbies. I wonder if my little sister kept some of hers. At one point I believe she had over 60.
LoL, they still look all new. All my dolls were ragged and torn even before I outgrew them 😀
I am wishing I had taken some photos of my own Barbie dolls (vintage early 1960s models, with Jackie Kennedy-style outfits!) when I was at my parents' this summer & helping my mother clean out the basement. I told my mom I wasn't sure I wanted to part with them yet, but I fear they may still wind up in her garage sale.
P.S. Sunny, you are making me feel old…!
I'm a little – ok a LOT – concerned that Barbie has visible camel toe in her clam digger outfit. That's just WRONG!
Great Barbie collection. I was a Sindy girl myself (Was she available in the US? Or was she just a UK thing?) – she didn't have such a ridiculous figure, & besides she was a brunette like me, so I far preferred her. 🙂
I'll admit that I never liked Barbie et al, but how great that you saved your barbie dolls with the clothes and all, and they look great! And so lovely that your daughter can now play with what you loved playing with as a child :-).
Gah! I missed the part about the blog's name, not mine. Such is life. Clearly I am a Show and Tell newbie!
I was never a big fan of Barbies, though I did love the shoes.
If I were to go through my old Barbies, I bet the outfits aren't near as spectacular as I remember.
Although I bet the red and purple sequined roller skating outfit I had is still the bomb.
