#Microblog Mondays 185: Post-it Note Life Audit
Not sure what #MicroblogMondays is? Read the inaugural post which explains the idea and how you can participate too.

Whoa.
So I was surfing the web (remember ye olden days when we jumped from link to link vs. got spoon-fed content from our Facebook feed?) and somehow landed on this 2014 piece about taking a life audit. I LOVE it.
You take 100 post-it notes and write down 100 wishes/life goals in an hour, stopping when the timer goes off. If you only have 40 wishes/goals, that’s fine. The more wishes/goals, the more you actually have to do. So it may be more manageable to NOT get to 100.
Then you group them and get a birds-eye view of what types of things matter to you. And then you finally prioritize by time. And then start to do your first five activities. It’s actually more complicated than that, and it would probably help if you read the whole thing.
But riffing off this idea, what was the first idea (wish/goal) that popped into your brain as you read this? In other words, what would go on your first post-it note?

Are you also doing #MicroblogMondays? Add your link below. The list will be open until Tuesday morning. Link to the post itself, not your blog URL. (Don’t know what that means? Please read the three rules on this post to understand the difference between a permalink to a post and a blog’s main URL.) Only personal blogs can be added to the list. I will remove any posts that are connected to businesses or are sponsored post.

my first thought was take care of myself/commit to being healthy. For me, that represents a cluster of goals…manage stress, consistent sleep, regular exercise, healthy eating. I’ve lived in crisis for several years now and everyday I think I need to get back on top of these things. They are the foundation and I’m failing. I think I will go ahead and write out my first steps for each of them today.
Travel was what I thought. I would love to see every corner of the world. Maybe my list would include travel the most and then there would be time with loved ones, conversations and getting fitter.
I will check out the links you shared. Sounds like such a lovely thing to do 🙂
My response is the same as Caryn’s: a lot of health-related goals that I am continually trying (and failing) to achieve.
I’m always amazed by people who have all these things they want to do. I mean I have one extravagant financial goal, and I’d love to retire early. I already eat reasonably healthy, I don’t have a desire to travel. I’d like more sleep. It’s not much of a list. I could spend an hour and doubt I’d come up with 10….I feel like a failure.
I think 10 sounds just fine! Depends on what is going on in your life and how much more novelty you crave, right?
I have to laugh because I love this idea, but also feel like I’m living it at the moment (see moving).
My top goal at the moment is maintaining some level of sanity/peace. Throw self-acceptance in there too for giggles.
Mine would be to get more of a routine going, but I’m not sure I really want it lol. I mean I do, but maybe next week or next month, not just now.
Also theres a few books I could/should read but I’m pretty determined to read The Gulag Archepelago after finishing 12 Rules For Life. And this is a big deal as I have NOT been an avid reader the past 2 years.
My first thought was to travel, with Italy being at the top of my list.
nothing much came to mind but I do know I want to be able to hold a really good handstand. I am working on this goal, it’s quite slow going.
Would it be bad form on say ‘have a healthy baby who survives’ is my top wish? Next in line would be ‘reach financial independence.’ If we’re talking shorter term, ‘ride a sub-6 century’ is up there.
Write!
Travel. And work that I can do while travelling (and that will therefore pay for the travelling). And the freedom to leave. They’re the first things that come to mind – and are all inter-related.
To take some time away from responsibilities and visit a friend.
