#Microblog Monday 227: Resolutions

Not sure what #MicroblogMondays is? Read the inaugural post which explains the idea and how you can participate too.

*******

I’ve already told you my resolutions.  It’s really simple and open, so I know I can stick to it: spend 15 minutes every week day doing something that will make me a better human or worker.  That comes out to 3,750 minutes per year, or about 62.5 hours.  It can be anything I want: reading a book, practicing a skill, decompressing.

Starting tomorrow, I’m going to do it (most of the time) first thing in the morning, before I begin work, so I can start the day feeling productive.  I’m adding a two-page monthly spread to my bullet journal so I can track what I do (for instance, read pages 34 – 53 in X book) and look back at it at the end of the year.  Simple.  Do-able.  And I’m finding the time to do this by trimming down on mindless scrolling that always leaves me feeling empty.  Win-win.

What is your resolution?  Or feel free to join mine.  There are a few of us on a listserv so we can share ideas.

Are you also doing #MicroblogMondays? Add your link below. The list will be open until Tuesday morning. Link to the post itself, not your blog URL. (Don’t know what that means? Please read the three rules on this post to understand the difference between a permalink to a post and a blog’s main URL.) Only personal blogs can be added to the list. I will remove any posts that are connected to businesses or are sponsored post.

I really like yours. It is marvelously all-encompassing and I love the idea of doing something intentional to be a better version of myself.

Hi!

I haven’t really thought about resolutions. My mind has been kind of all over the place. But, if I think about it, I guess increasing the commitment to learn a second language.

That is a brilliant resolution — 15 minutes is so doable, and the fact that it can be anything that makes you a better human or worker means that you are likely to succeed! And it is more meaningful than the standard resolutions that are so hard to accomplish and feel like failures as soon as you mess up. Happy New Year to you! I did a TERRIBLE job keeping up with my bullet journal, pretty much it bit the bullet (har de har har har) once school let out last year, but I did enjoy doing it and I think with my new office space and less chaos surrounding me now that the move is over I should be able to attack it again, maybe a little less ambitiously!

I love your resolution. Mine is a spin-off of this, with specifically focusing on thinks that will improve my mood. Basically, I’m digging myself out of a rut, focusing on what I need to find some peace each day.

Looking forward to your updates! And wishing an amazing 2019.

I love yours. It’s simple and doable. I don’t do goals and resolutions. I like to keep the focus on health and self. I track my workout days and that helps me stick to schedules. Wish you a happy 2019, Mel.

I’m going to keep up with the physical and spiritual practices I have.

I do want to read more and scroll less. I have an intention but not a resolution about it.

I did goals with AJ and Dani this morning. Well we inferred what Dani’s goals are. It was easy to do theirs; I don’t even know where to start with mine. I could probably think of fifty things in five minutes. But I guess with that in mind an overall goal would be to do a little bit on one of the things I need to do/maintain everyday so I’m not procrastinating and avoiding. Sort of like yours. And enjoy life. That’s not usually a problem but I think it’s important to remember to r joy the moment always.

I’ve squeaked in with a very late addition to the MM posts!
I really like your resolution, and may join your group, once I’ve got my head around the New Year. I’m still in summer holiday mode, having had a lovely trip and now the hot(ter) weather has arrived, so my brain hasn’t quite got into gear yet, but it will soon. (I hope.)

We’re going to South America this year, so I need to work on my now-pretty-much-forgotten Spanish in the next few months. That’s my aim. Also to blog more, because I think that makes the world a better place. It makes me a better person, and that is at least a good start.
