#Microblog Monday 271: Uniform
Not sure what #MicroblogMondays is? Read the inaugural post which explains the idea and how you can participate too.

I switched a few years ago to a uniform. In the summer, I wear a black or grey t-shirt and cargo pants. In the winter, I wear a black long sleeve t-shirt and jeans.
I switch it up by adding a scarf every day. Most of the scarves are solid, so it’s just choosing which colour fits my mood. Or they’re varying lengths, so I can decided between a thin blue scarf or a plush blue scarf.
It means I never have to think about what I’m going to wear. When I pack, I just grab enough shirts and jeans for the trip and a handful of scarves. I love not having to think anymore. Or worry that a certain top won’t be clean or pants won’t fit. Is it a little boring? Yes. But the scarves are all kinds of awesome.

Please read the three rules on this post to understand the difference between a permalink to a post and a blog’s main URL.) Only personal blogs can be added to the list. I will remove any posts that are connected to businesses or are sponsored post.

I sort of wear the same stuff over and over, too. Black capris in the summer and yoga pants in the winter. Rotation of Tshirts. If I need to dress “nicer” it’s long maxi skirts in the summer and jeans in the winter. Same rotation of tshirts.🤷♀️ I just don’t have time to be bothered with the latest fashion. As it is they change the style of my yoga pants every couple years and some online better than others. But it doesn’t bother me enough to try other brands. I found a pair of jeans I liked and fit well at goodwill, so I hunted down that brand on posh mark and ordered more of the same so I had extra choices.
I really loved the blue one you had on the other day. And I love this idea!
Hmmmm, maybe one day i’ll adopt a uniform but probably not. I love fashion, I don’t wear the latest fashion but certainly love expressing myself with my outfits.
I love the idea of scarves, but every time I buy one, I have a hard time figuring out how to tie it so that it lays right, and I end up feeling suffocated by it. I have mostly filed them under the heading of “Things That Look Good on Other People.”
The idea of a uniform is appealing to me, but I’m not there yet.
I guess I’ve had an around-the-house uniform of sorts since I retired: shorts & T-shirts (short sleeves or sleeveless) in the summertime; yoga pants & T-shirts (longer sleeved) in the winter. A bit more variety when we go out, although mostly casual wear/jeans. I pared down my nice-clothes-for-work wardrobe quite a lot once I decided I was done working (also when we moved). But I still have waaaayyyyyyy too many clothes!
This is brilliant! I do pretty much the same thing – cargo pants and dark colored shirts in the summer and jeans and longer sleeved dark shirts in the winter. My family gives me crap about always wearing black. Thinking of it as a uniform is a great idea. I need to find some new scarves. Where do you get your scarves?
I like the idea of a uniform for travel, but I also like wearing all different kinds of things to school, sort of like Ms. Frizzle. I have a lot of fun themed dresses. But in the summer, I could TOTALLY get behind a uniform. Although scarves definitely don’t look great on me. I am jealous of those who can pull off fun scarves!
I wear a uniform in the winter. Blue jeans or black, with a black round-neck woollen or polyprop top, with a black fleece hoodie at home. When I go out, I swap the hoodie for a jacket or a long or wrap woollen cardigan. (Yes, we use two L’s for woollen.) I alternate winter coats (I have a few) and woolly scarves. I love winter scarves too. My winter uniform makes life so much easier. I love it.
But in summer, I don’t wear a uniform. What I wear depends on the temperature (NZ summers are changeable) and I also like to mix up colours.
I just went through a thing trying to pack for a trip and wondering how I don’t have enough clothes with all I have in my closet. This post is definitely food for thought…
Hi Mel,
The scarves sure give it your uniform a whole new dimension. Not sure I’d do it, but food for thought surely and fodder for minimalism too. 🙂
Why can’t I see you linky Mel?

I must get bored too easily because I feel like my wardrobe is constantly changing – new pieces in, old pieces out. I like variety and not looking the same every day. The flip side is, I often times take too long deciding what to wear or have “nothing to wear” which can be problematic. I also have a lot of shoes. Like way too many to fit in my closet and it drives me nuts. I’ve been thinking about really culling what I have and adding in more practical footwear. I also have a lot of scarves because I love them and how they can really enhance an outfit, plus keep your neck warm in a less-restrictive way than a turtleneck.
