Merry Christmas
This pretty much sums up my day: “The Icelandic tradition of Jólabókaflóðið is a mashup of slumber party and holiday-themed Scholastic Book Fair for grownups. With chocolate.”
We are not having a traditional Jólabókaflóðið because the books come from the library (though I really love giving and receiving stories as gifts). But we have books and chocolate and blankets to snuggle under and nowhere to go because nothing is open.
Merry Christmas, if you’re celebrating today.

That sounds like a pretty perfect day, Mel. I’m well into Boxing Day (the day after) today, and fully intend to relax on the couch this afternoon with books and chocolate too. Though maybe I’ll take a walk too, after the over-indulgence of the last week.
I love BookFlood! Started celebrating it after NPR did an article about it (here: https://www.npr.org/2012/12/25/167537939/literary-iceland-revels-in-its-annual-christmas-book-flood)
This year we had the cocoa, but didn’t buy ourselves new books as both my brother and I have teetering TBR piles.
We had a quiet and meaningful Christmas too and I enjoyed reading for most of the day. Have a good season, Mel.
You did a Book Flood! How exciting! I hope you had a wonderful day.
