#Microblog Monday 289: Private Libraries
Not sure what #MicroblogMondays is? Read the inaugural post which explains the idea and how you can participate too.

I am aware that I already belong to a library; a library that is free and has more books than I could read in a lifetime and will do an interlibrary loan for any book they don’t have in their system. But even knowing that and how much I hate to leave the house, I kind of want to belong to a private library.
Especially if there is a secret password for the door. I’ve always wanted to be part of a secret society.
I mean, yes, for $180 per year, I could also sit on my comfortable sofa with my guinea pig and at least ten new, purchased books (and quadruple that if I buy used) for the same amount. But no secret password.
Unless Linus and I create one.

Are you also doing #MicroblogMondays? Add your link below. The list will be open until Tuesday morning. Link to the post itself, not your blog URL. (Don’t know what that means? Please read the three rules on this post to understand the difference between a permalink to a post and a blog’s main URL.) Only personal blogs can be added to the list. I will remove any posts that are connected to businesses or are sponsored post.

I’m not so much sure I want a private library as a secret one. Particularly a magic secret one with books that hold galaxies and all the knowledge of mysteries humankind hasn’t even been able to fathom. Mostly, I tend to picture the library at Hogwarts or perhaps the halls of Rivendell ;).
I don’t know if I’d want to cough up the money to belong to one of these private groups. But I sure wouldn’t mind a tour!
I have been debating joining the Athenaeum in Boston for years! But 575 for a family!! Bonkers. But I’m so tempted anyway. Sigh.
My family belonged to a private library when I was a kid. It was an absolutely magical place. I don’t think I realized that there were free libraries that anyone could join until I went to college.
I feel like I own a couple of private libraries. LOL!
Considering I don’t cough up for subscriptions of online newspapers (though I’m considering it) yet, I’m not likely to cough up US$180 for a private library. I can understand the appeal of a secret password and some lovely settings though.
