#Microblog Monday 330: Book-y Things
Not sure what #MicroblogMondays is? Read the inaugural post which explains the idea and how you can participate too.

You know I like book-y things. If you are holding a Jólabókaflóðið this year, NPR has a book concierge app to help you set up your personal book flood. It is pretty awesome. I ended up adding two books to my TBR list and starting one immediately.
Next, a bunch of people are doing a countdown calendar by reading the new translation of Beowulf aloud. It’s not too late to join along. You can find all of the past days at that link and start at the beginning.
What good book-y things can you tell us about?

Are you also doing #MicroblogMondays? Add your link below. The list will be open until Tuesday morning. Link to the post itself, not your blog URL. (Don’t know what that means? Please read the three rules on this post to understand the difference between a permalink to a post and a blog’s main URL.) Only personal blogs can be added to the list. I will remove any posts that are connected to businesses or are sponsored post.

Well, that’s a timely question… I mention in my linked blog post that I’m currently following a nightly chapter-by-chapter read of “A Christmas Carol” by Charles Dickens, as read/performed by the East Pointers, a folk/East Coast music band from Prince Edward Island. They spent the first several months of the pandemic doing a nightly chapter-by-chapter read of the first three Anne of Green Gables books. 🙂 They’re by no means professionals, but highly entertaining, and they play a few songs every night too. I am hugely enjoying it. There are still two nights to go, and the previous nights’ readings are available on video on the band’s Facebook page. Details in my blog post.
In other bookish news, I completed my Goodreads Challenge goal of 30 books for this year a while back — currently at 40 books & hoping to add one or two more before the end of the year. 🙂
I remember you writing about the Icelandic “book flood” before — so cool! And thank you for the book concierge app!! — I think I will have some fun looking at that today…!
P.S. By professionals, I mean actors/readers/podcasters, lol. They’re great musicians. 😉
Lots of great info in this microblog post! Thank you for reminding me about Book Flood, the NPR Concierge app and especially the new translation of Beowulf. I should have known about that one! Where has my head been?!
