#Microblog Monday 343: Love Is a Masked, Outside Visit

Not sure what #MicroblogMondays is? Read the inaugural post which explains the idea and how you can participate too.

*******

A testament to how much I love and miss my sister: I burst into tears and fogged up my glasses the moment she came outside and I saw her for the first time in over a year. She drove 8 hours to see my parents now that everyone in that equation is vaccinated. Except for me. Hence outside. And far apart. And it the rain.

I once had tickets to see Bob Dylan, and I gave them up because the forecast said it would probably drizzle. Drizzle! But before I went over to my parents’ porch, I saw they were predicting an inch of rain. Unlike Bob Dylan in a drizzle, my sister after over a year apart in a downpour sounded completely do-able.

My younger niece made me awesome stickers (with the cutest guinea pig design courtesy of her older sister). We took an 18-foot-apart selfie together. And we just talked for three hours. It was amazing and emotional, and I also cried on the drive home.

I have missed my sister so much, and I feel very lucky that I got to see her from far away.

Please read the three rules on this post to understand the difference between a permalink to a post and a blog’s main URL.) Only personal blogs can be added to the list. I will remove any posts that are connected to businesses or are sponsored post.

I’m so, so happy to hear of your visit despite the tears… I’ve been daydreaming/semi-planning a visit to see my parents and sister myself, so this gave me all the feelings and bit of vicarious pleasure too.

Today’s microblog was inspired by your previous post <3
I haven't seen my sister for almost 2 years now 🙁 I'm glad you got to see yours!

How lovely! I got to see my sister (and parents) too. We got to hang out inside, and there was no rain…I feel very lucky.

Awww, so glad you got to see her! I suspect there will be tears when I finally get to see & hug my family again, although I also suspect it won’t be for a while yet… 🙁

Oh, how wonderful (even in the rain). I’m so glad you got to see her. And that your nieces made guinea pig stickers, how very delightful.

I’m happy you got to see your sister! I miss my sister, too. She lives across the country from me, but we had two planned trips — a family trip last July and a trip for just the two of us for my birthday yesterday — that have had to be canceled because of Covid.

Between the restrictions and our respective schedules, I don’t know when we will see each other again. *sniff*

It’s so wonderful you had the opportunity to spend time with your sister! I’d be crying too! I miss my family so much! I can’t wait till we can see each other again.

Your post is so lovely. I’m so glad you got to see your sister, and that she got to see you too. The separations from people we love have been hard in this pandemic. I’ve been lucky. But so many haven’t. Including other members of my family.

Sending hugs.

Hugs! So good you met your sister. Siblings are first friends. That’s how I look at my brother. My first friend and ally.

That’s wonderful! Tearing up at your distanced visit, and the joy and chatting even in the rain. So heartwarming!

You probably could have gotten closer. You might even have been low risk for a masked hug. But I’m glad you got to see her. Still waiting to see 2 of my sisters, but one will be in the area in May, and I think we’ll go visit the other this summer (if she can join us vaccinated people).

That’s great you got to see your sister, even if still a bit distanced. My kids and I long for the day we can see my family again too. Until then…stay safe!
