#Microblog Monday 349: Deep Nostalgia Pictures

Not sure what #MicroblogMondays is? Read the inaugural post which explains the idea and how you can participate too.

*******

I read about deep nostalgia pictures on My Heritage. They are animations of your old images, so you can see people in motion.  Perhaps you have an ancestor you never got to meet, or you don’t have video footage of someone who died when you were young. You can animate the image and get a sense of what they were like when they were alive.

Which sounded all kinds of amazing, and I have old photos that I would love to do this with. But I decided to start with a picture of myself to create a base. If the picture felt like a video of myself, I would upload some older images.

But it didn’t. It didn’t look or move like me at all. To be sure (since it can be hard to judge your own face), I asked Josh and he gave a hard no. It didn’t capture me. It felt like my features plastered over someone else’s features.

So a disappointment, but it would have been amazing if it worked.

Are you also doing #MicroblogMondays? Add your link below. The list will be open until Tuesday morning. Link to the post itself, not your blog URL. (Don’t know what that means? Please read the three rules on this post to understand the difference between a permalink to a post and a blog’s main URL.) Only personal blogs can be added to the list. I will remove any posts that are connected to businesses or are sponsored post.

I haven’t tried it myself, but I saw some examples on a genealogy blog that I follow, using very old ancestors’ photos… I found it kind of creepy and other commenters agreed!

I’ve seen those! I don’t know, I find them insanely creepy. You’re so brave to DO ONE OF YOURSELF! I feel like they look like an alien has possessed an old photo. Like a stilted attempt at lifelike. It could be cool in the future, but this go-round is creepy.

Sounds like something out of Harry Potter.
