#Microblog Monday 352: Cicada Bat Mitzvah
Not sure what #MicroblogMondays is? Read the inaugural post which explains the idea and how you can participate too.

It was just the 34th anniversary of my Bat Mitzvah. I know this because my Bat Mitzvah fell during the 17-year cicadas in 1987. Back then, due to the fact that there was no Internet and they didn’t cover the 17-year cicadas in Teen Beat magazine, I did not know they were coming until they were here.
Imagine my horror when I looked out the window of the car and saw the trees covered in cicadas crawling over each other, making the bark look like it was pulsating. And with no warning, I was going to have to run from said car into shul in my one-inch heels.
Though I imagine Bat Mitzvah girls this year are thinking, “You think you had it bad with just cicadas? I have to read Torah in a mask and project over the noise of the cicadas. You don’t know how good you had it.”
Fair point.

Are you also doing #MicroblogMondays? Add your link below. The list will be open until Tuesday morning. Link to the post itself, not your blog URL. (Don’t know what that means? Please read the three rules on this post to understand the difference between a permalink to a post and a blog’s main URL.) Only personal blogs can be added to the list. I will remove any posts that are connected to businesses or are sponsored post.

Oh wow-what a weirdly gross coincidence! Lol Can I just say that I would love to see a pic of little Mel in her one inch heels.
And yeah…my front porch is covered in them, the front of the house crawling. I’m not a fan. And on top of the influx of those nasty bugs this week, my beagle/terrier pup started catching moles (I didn’t even know we had miles. Ewww. (the chipmunks and squirrels can stay, he can have the moles!) BUT he started bringing them in the house and showing us. I make my 16 yr old come fetch them. He also brought us a bird😢
Oh and there’s a full moon on Wednesday, so beware!!!
Ack, the visual on that is crazy! Now I see girls in masks with cicadas crawling ON THE MASKS. Blecccccchhhhhh. I remember the cicadas 34 years ago crawling up trees in Connecticut, I wonder if they will be crazy in western NY… I guess these are the things that cement memories!
Oh no, what an anniversary! Do you think this is what contributed to your fear of bugs? If so, it’s entirely understandable. I’m shuddering at the thought of running through them.
Yes please to the pic of little Mel in her one-inch shoes!
