#Microblog Monday 359: Pumpkin Spice Free
Not sure what #MicroblogMondays is? Read the inaugural post which explains the idea and how you can participate too.

The wave of pumpkin spice products are out in full force, and the pandemic has made me realize that you don’t need to leave home to be overexposed to it. The ads will find you.
Pumpkin spice instant noodles may have been my tipping point.
I am not anti-pumpkin spice, but I would never seek it out. I considered myself pumpkin spice neutral. But as more and more products go over to the pumpkin side, I may have stepped over the line onto the anti-pumpkin spice side. It’s not who I want to be, but it is what it is.

Are you also doing #MicroblogMondays? Add your link below. The list will be open until Tuesday morning. Link to the post itself, not your blog URL. (Don’t know what that means? Please read the three rules on this post to understand the difference between a permalink to a post and a blog’s main URL.) Only personal blogs can be added to the list. I will remove any posts that are connected to businesses or are sponsored post.

I’m not anti-pumpkin spice either (it’s kind of nice in a candle scent), but it does get kind of ridiculous sometimes…! I think I would draw the line at instant noodles too…! I’ve had one or two PSLs at Starbucks, and honestly, I didn’t get what all the fuss was about. I’d much prefer a gingerbread latte at Christmastime, if we’re going seasonal. Even then, I don’t have those too often while they’re available, because OMG, the calories (and you really HAVE to have some whipped cream on top, right..?).
I am all for actual pumpkin in baked goods. I love pumpkin. But pumpkin spice is too much. It’s everywhere and in places it should not be. I have become anti pumpkin spice simply because I am so tired of seeing it. And it’s not even really fall here yet! It’s almost 80 degrees where I am today.
I don’t really get the whole pumpkin spice craze (“pumpkin spice” is not a thing here – what even are the spices used? – nor is pumpkin in baked goods), but I’d draw the line at instant noodles too. Pumpkin curry noodles – now that would be more like it!
Oh no! I totally saw those in People magazine and yarked a bit in my mouth. Blecchhhhh, how can that be even remotely edible? I like pumpkin spice in some coffee (too sweet kills it for me), and pancakes, and pie. That’s pretty much it. Oh, ice cream. But noodles? Ewwwww
My daughter and I (mostly me) feel the need to seek out (and of course purchase) at least 1 (usually 3) autumnal desserts each week. In these first few days of fall, we’ve already done tea cakes, logs, and cookies. Taste-wise, we typically average about 30% overall in our finds. We know we’re total suckers. We just don’t seem to care. We not only do this willingly every year… dare I say… enthusiastically.

I dislike pumpkin and pumpkin spice (which is mostly cinnamon, isn’t it?). But I hope everyone who enjoys it gets their fill. I assume this is just a thing that will burn out over time. I think pumpkin spice noodles might be the sign that things have gone far enough…
