I Love This Game So Much
I love a game. And everyone I show it to loves it, too. You can only play it once a day, so our friends text us how many moves it took to win. It’s hard to wait until the game resets the next day.
The game is called Wordle, which… isn’t the greatest name but don’t let that deter you.
You are trying to guess the word of the day. You start by typing any random 5-letter word. The game then tells you one of three things:
- The letter turns green if it is in that day’s word and in the correct space
- The letter turns yellow if it is in the word but not in the correct space
- The letter turns grey if it is not in the word at all
You take that information and make a second guess. It once again tells you how close you are to guessing that day’s word. You win when you guess the word.
My first word above was “boxer.” I learned that “e” and “r” are in the word but not in those spaces. “B,” “o,” and “x” are not in the word of the day at all. I then tried “retry,” getting the “e” in the correct place. That led to trying out “heard,” which gave me three letters (not sure why I skipped using “h” in the next two words considering I knew it had to be in the word). So on and so on.
It is so simple but brilliant. The moment you finish, a timer starts counting down until the next time you can play. That part breaks my heart, but I am so happy this game exists.

I play a game like that called “Get It Right” but it’s colored balls instead of words. It is much easier because of that but it’s a very enjoyable game when I need to let my brain coast.
That was fun – I got the word in 3 tries!
So FUN! Thanks for sharing!
That was fun!
I love a good word game! Thanks, Mel.
Nooooooo, a game that only has one word a day? And you can’t go back and do previous day’s words? That’s no fun! lol
Oh dear, I shouldn’t have used the arrows instead of brackets! It was supposed to say …
(a minute or two later) … Nooooo, etc.
11 day winning streak and counting! Thanks for sharing this!
