#Microblog Monday 372: Trader Joe’s Person
Not sure what #MicroblogMondays is? Read the inaugural post which explains the idea and how you can participate too.

I’ve never really understood the allure of Trader Joe’s. I’m someone who likes consistency, so the idea of a system in which favourite products come and go in the store isn’t something that makes me happy. Prior to the pandemic, I probably went two or three times per year and bought a few items.
Mostly tea.
But since the pandemic began, I find myself drawn more and more to picking up treats at Trader Joe’s. Our latest find: Bamba stuffed with hazelnut creme. I’m aware that it’s just Osem Bamba in a different package. I don’t care. I’ve changed. I’ve become a Trader Joe’s person.

Are you also doing #MicroblogMondays? Add your link below. The list will be open until Tuesday morning. Link to the post itself, not your blog URL. (Don’t know what that means? Please read the three rules on this post to understand the difference between a permalink to a post and a blog’s main URL.) Only personal blogs can be added to the list. I will remove any posts that are connected to businesses or are sponsored post.

I am a TJ person in this same way – it’s a great place to get a treat. Sometimes I treat myself to an easy prepared dinner for my family. Sometimes it’s a special dairy free food I can’t find somewhere else. I don’t go often because it’s a 30 minute drive. But when I do, it’s fun to browse.
Trader Joe’s kind of stresses me out. I haven’t been since the pandemic started, mostly because they were a store that refused to ask people to wear masks once things started ticking up again in the late summer, and that didn’t sit well with me. I do love their cheeses though! I think they have great seasonal stuff, but not always stuff that is safe for me to eat, reliably. I once got glutened by salad dressing there. But I’m glad you are enjoying the treats of Trader Joe’s!
I’ve been a TJ person for decades. We have one literally 2 minutes away. But I have gone there only a handful of times during the pandemic bc of masks. Even here in California their compliance has been crap, at least at my local store in coastal liberal California. I even complained to corporate and got zero response, which tells you something. And unfortunately they don’t do Instacart, so I’ve just had to do without my favorite TJ-only stuff/make do with substitutes from other stores.
We don’t have Trader Joe’s in Canada, although I’ve heard of it. We do have Whole Foods in some cities. There’s a newish chain in Ontario called Farm Boy that is supposed to be kind of like Trader Joe’s. They opened one in our old community just after we left there, and there isn’t one anywhere near us (yet?), so I haven’t been to one yet, but I’ve heard rave reviews.
This whole post is full of words and places I don’t know or understand! I’m glad you found something that makes you happy though.
