#Microblog Monday 381: When Only One Book Will Do

Not sure what #MicroblogMondays is? Read the inaugural post which explains the idea and how you can participate too.

*******

I spent most of Saturday (before and after my date) hitting refresh on my Libby hold list. A watched library list never gives you your hold. But I had convinced myself that the only book in the entire world I wanted to read next was Janice Hallett’s The Appeal.

Why?

I have no clue. I know nothing about it. But I convinced myself as I neared the end of the book I was reading that it was the only thing that could make me happy despite having several other holds sent my way and hundreds of unread books in my home. We didn’t want to drive into the city to get to the bookstore because of the trucking convoy. So I had to just hit refresh on the list and make a plan B.

Sometimes I just hit a reading mood. Based on nothing.

Are you also doing #MicroblogMondays? Add your link below. The list will be open until Tuesday morning. Link to the post itself, not your blog URL. (Don’t know what that means? Please read the three rules on this post to understand the difference between a permalink to a post and a blog’s main URL.) Only personal blogs can be added to the list. I will remove any posts that are connected to businesses or are sponsored post.

But did you get the book? Because guess what book was ready for me to pick up on Saturday! I don’t even remember where I saw it, but I requested it a week or two ago. Now, I’m going to have to start it sooner than I had planned! Because, curiosity and synchronicity…

Sometimes there’s just a book(s) you’re in the mood for! Though usually for me it’s books that I have previously read and love.

Isn’t it annoying when you have your heart set on reading a particular book and it’s just not there?? Hope you get it soon (if you’re not reading it already…!).

This made me laugh, because I can relate. I find too that I can have dozens of unread books in my kindle app and a whole library at my disposal but can’t find just the right thing to read. Argh.

Or that I don’t open my library app for a few days, and find out I’ve missed out on a book that I’ve had on hold for months!

And I too want to know – did you get it

Yep. Me too! Must have the book now–while a 100 unread books stare at me. :-/

I can relate too! I can have a zillion books ready to be read but the one I want to read isn’t in that pile/access. That happened with “The Violence,” which I’m reading because of you and the description haunted me and I actually abandoned (temporarily) another book I was reading in order to read that one. It was just what I wanted in that moment.
I hope you got the book — I just looked it up and HOLY MOSES THAT LOOKS SO GOOD!

I can relate. I have a stack of unread books and keep buying more despite not starting any lately. It’s shiny-object syndrome for me.
