The Perfect Mint

Remember my quest for the perfect mint once we stopped being able to get our vegan Wilhelmina mint from Trader Joe’s? Well, we returned to Newman’s Own peppermints, except those mints were also discontinued. I am terrified to tell you about the newest mint we’ve landed on in case they also disappear. But here it goes: The Perfect Mint.

Jila Mints

Jila is the closest in taste to the Wilhelmina mint. Not overpowering. Few ingredients. Lasts a long time. I feel like it’s a 10 along with the Wilhelmina. The Wolvog thinks it’s slightly better than the Wilhelmina, and the ChickieNob thinks it’s slightly worse but the taste is growing on her.

Please Jila Mints, do not stop producing these. I cannot go back to testing mints.

At first glance that looked like a cigarette box and I was VERY confused. 🙂 Hmmm, I don’t think I have a favorite mint. I also didn’t realize that not all mints are vegan. I saw wines in the liquor store labeled as vegan, and was confused (um, aren’t grapes vegan?) until the employee kindly explained that some barrels are sealed with animal fat, and some processes use egg whites at some point, so it’s not that the wine necessarily has animal products in it directly but it’s part of the process. Maybe mints are the same? I hope your vegan mints stay in stock forever!

I hate it when favourite products go out of stock! I too hope your mints are available forever.

I’m curious that mints are an important part of your life, though. We take mints in the car on road-trips – for when we need a wake-up sugar boost. But rarely any other time.

I never heard of these! My favourite mints are Life Savers peppermints. They come in a blue bag. (Dh prefers the wintergreen mints, in a green bag.) They are all individually wrapped in plastic wrappers, which makes me feel somewhat guilty — not particularly environmentally friendly. But I do like them. I keep a handful in my purse.
