#Microblog Monday 462: Visualization
Not sure what #MicroblogMondays is? Read the inaugural post which explains the idea and how you can participate too.
*******
Yesterday, I wrote about something I found on Kottke. Today, I bring up something I found via John Green, who was writing about something on Kottke. That feels meta.
It’s about how your brain pictures things. I’m a 1. I’m beyond a 1. I can mentally conjure up how things smell or feel or taste. And see it play out like a movie in my head, or feel my mouth water, or breathe in deeper.
So it’s so interesting to think about someone experiencing 5. Maybe as interesting as he thinks experiencing a 1. Where do you fall on the scale?

#Microblog Monday 461: Internet Museum

Neal.fun put out an internet archive that you can scroll through like an online museum. Can you name the first MP3? When do you think 🙂 (indicating a smile) was first used? What year do you think held the first Amazon order, and what do you think it was?
Go explore and find out.

#Microblog Monday 460: Real vs. AI Photos
Not sure what #MicroblogMondays is? Read the inaugural post which explains the idea and how you can participate too.

I was fascinated by this experiment, putting two photos side-by-side: the actual photo and the AI-described photo. The person writes, “just to be super clear, at no point did I upload or share my original photographs with the AI software for this. I just attempted to describe the original shot with words alone.”
So they said what was in the photo, and this Adobe AI tool could generate a photo that looked similar (or sometimes more real) than the original photo. Super creepy. It seems to do better with inanimate objects than humans.

#Microblog Monday 459: Blogs in App Form
Not sure what #MicroblogMondays is? Read the inaugural post which explains the idea and how you can participate too.

I recently heard about an app that sounds like a formalized version of old-school bulletin boards or blogs. You can search for health advice provided by experts and then expanded by people who have said health situation. So you get IVF advice from the doctor, and then people who are going through IVF can chime in and give experiential additions to the advice. (I don’t know if IVF is on there, but that’s the gist.)
So it already exists (combine your doctor’s advice or Mayo Clinic’s web page + blogs or answers on IVFC), but I still thought it was neatly packaged.

#Microblog Monday 458: Dinner Time

What time do you eat dinner, and is it the usual time for where you live?
I’m not sure where I found this, but it’s a breakdown of when people eat dinner in your state. We eat later than the people in our state, but we’re closer to DC than other parts of Maryland, so maybe that impacts our dinner time. We’re usually closer to 7 pm than 6 pm, but it was funny to see and think, “Oh, if I lived in Pennsylvania or Maine, I would be eating dinner while I’m still at work.” I also thought California would be much later.
So what time do you eat?
