#Microblog Monday 427: COVID Changes

*******
When the National Zoo reopened after COVID closures, they went to a timed entrance system. They were free tickets, but you had to have a pass to walk through the park. I didn’t pay much attention because I rarely went to the zoo.
But it was in the news again last week because Eleanor Holmes Norton asked the zoo to remove the pass system to make it more accessible to people who don’t have a computer and can’t sign up for the digital pass. The zoo said no, though they pointed out that they reserve a certain amount of passes for people who show up without a pass because they couldn’t access them online.
I guess I didn’t realize to check on something like that because it feels like the world has moved on with restrictions despite COVID cases being where they are.

#Microblog Monday 425: Need a Project

I don’t really need a project, except that I kind of love being in the middle of something. My crocheting skills pretty much end in scarf-land. Because I can make a scarf, I can also make a blanket (which is kind of just a big scarf). But for whatever reason, until I saw this picture, I didn’t think about how I could make a shawl. I could go out and buy the most delicious blue yarn and make myself the perfect winter wrap to wear while I’m reading.
This is the best idea ever. I just wish I knew how to do that edging. So mine may not look quite as awesome, but it’s going to be fantastic.

#Microblog Monday 424: Class of 2023

Back when the kids were in Kindergarten, one of the other parents commented that our kids would be the class of 2023. 2023? That was ridiculously far away. Nothing to worry about.
Except the calendar page has flipped, and suddenly we’re in that year, months away from graduation. I know that winter break isn’t the halfway point — we’re still in the second grading period — but it emotionally feels like the halfway point. Like we crossed onto the other side of a line, and we’re now standing on the same side of graduation. I am so proud of them for the people they’ve grown up to be. And I am so sad to be on the other side of the line, looking at that endpoint.

As a non-Christmas celebrator, I love hearing what other people did, ate, received, gave for the holiday.
So tell me, what did you do, eat, receive, or give? Which is a bigger deal in your world — Christmas Eve or Christmas Day? And what is your favourite way to spend the day after?
