These deliberately terrible designs made me laugh. I mean, it also made me think about how much goes into good design — especially things that seem simple and straightforward on the surface but could clearly be otherwise. But mostly, they made me laugh.

My favourite was probably the uncomfortable wine glass.

There is only one Wordle, but there are 439 Wordle-like games on this list.

It’s so funny because my friend and I were playing Wordle before it hit the mainstream, and at that time, we kept looking for other games like Wordle. “Why aren’t there any other games like Wordle?” we lamented back and forth in email. “We only get one Wordle puzzle per day — what do we do with the rest of the time?”

The answer is now here in the form of 439 other games.

I recently read about the concept of the extended mind. So… you know where your body ends and the object begins, right? This is the table, these are my fingertips. The table is one thing and my skin, nerve endings, and bone are another.

But the same line doesn’t exist between the mind and your surroundings. For instance, where does my mind end and your mind begin? You are reading these words from my mind, and they’re going into your mind, but where is the end of my mind and the beginning of your mind? It’s bizarre, right? Like I’m seeing things outside of myself, but I’m processing them in my mind, and it isn’t clear where the object or experience ends and I begin.

Just something to get you thinking today.

I didn’t expect to get this enthralled by an article about addresses. I thought the solution for no address would be to assign everyone a post office box in a centralized location, wondering how it would work because people may need to travel long distances to get mail.

But this system of using Google Plus Codes is brilliant.

Most articles about technology are about how much it sucks, but it’s important to remember how much we gain from tech.

This is fun to play with. It’s a globe, and you can zoom in on your area (or any area) and discover the notable people born there. It’s not a complete set of all notable people born in that area. The directions explain: “Data has been processed to show only one person for each unique geographic location with the highest notability rank.”

I’m not sure how highest notability is determined, but it’s fun to see who is from where. And it cracked me up to see Natalie Portman next to Jesus.

You can also toggle to show the town names so you can center your area on the screen, and then go back to the notable people. Have fun!
